These solid beads have a "rounded over" hole that is much less sharp than the holes in the 8mm nickel plated beads, but they are considerably heavier.  For bandoleers, breast plates and  necklaces  most people use the lighter and cheaper 8mm 8mm nickel plated hollow brass bead.
